Tonight we go direct to the Village Vanguard in New York City with John Coltrane and his quatrtet plus several special guests for a live recording seession for Impulse Records on November 1, 1961 and we’ll hear the first sequence of recorded works in the order they were played on stage, with the band comprising John Coltrane (soprano, tenor saxophone); Eric Dolphy (alto saxophone, bass clarinet); McCoy Tyner (piano); Ahmed Abdul-Malik (oud); Reggie Workman and/or Jimmy Garrison (bass); and Elvin Jones (drums).
