Ancestor Worship 80: Out of This World

We’re continuing our investigation into the recorded works of the John Coltrane Qyartet on Impulse Records, this episode of Ancestor Worship begins with the 45 version of “Greensleeves” from December 21, 1961 with Reggie Workman on bass, McCoy Tyner on piano and Elvin Jones on drums, then the song “It’s Easy To Remember” from Ballads on April 11, 1962 with Jimmy Garrison permanently installed on bass, and continuing through the sessions of June 19-20 and June 29 for the great album titled Coltrane (Impulse A-21), and ending on September 18, 1962 with “Up ‘Gainst The Wall.” Our bonus track, “The Last Blues,” is from a later Impulse session.
