Ancestor Worship 85: Chasin’ Another Trane

Ancestor Worship follows the John Coltrane Quartet this week to the Newport Jazz Festivals in 1963 and 1965, the first distinguished by the appearance on drums of the great Roy Haynes, who’s replacing Elvin Jones on a temporary basis, with Jimmy Garrison on bass and McCoy Tyner on piano, and the second powered by the return of Elvin Jones to the drum chair in the Quartet.
