Episode 765 is coming from the Detroit studios of Radio Free Amsterdam up above the Carl Lundgren Art Studio in the Cass Corridor, where I’m playing music tonight from some albums my old friend Guitar Johnny Nicholas gave me on the 4th of july when he played a gig in the back yard of P.J. Ryder’s sumptuous mansion in Indian Village with a cat called Scrapper on guitar & mandolin, Tony Gonyea on bass and Tino Gross on drums. They sounded great and I want to feature Johnny’s albums Fresh Air and Future Blues in this episode and his double CD Too Many Bad Habits on next week’s show. Plus I’ve got three more cuts from my concert with the Blues Scholars at the Detroit Institute of Arts in July 2017 featuring Jeff Grand on guitar, Phil Hale on keys, James Simonson on bass, Skeeto Valdez on drums, and Johnny Evans & Dave McMurray on tenor saxophones.
