Episode 884 is coming from the Center for the Study of World Religions at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts where I’m featuring a fourth hour of music from Charlie Parker in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth on August 29, 1920 in Kansas City. This hour features music Bird recorded for Norman Granz releases on the Norgran, Mercury & Verve labels in the early 1950s prior to Bird’s passing at the age of 34 on March 12, 1955.
