Episode 893 is coming from Radio Free Amsterdam headquarters in the Cass Corridor of Detroit with the first of two programs with music contributed by my old friend Jules Bauduc of Louiaiana, known in musical circles as The Maestro, who sent me 4 CDs worth of rare music from the Crescent City and environs, including an entire CD’s worth of popular instrumentals from the 1950s and ’60s that we’ll feature at a later date.
Tonight’s show has music from Lee Allen with my theme song when I was a high school deejay in the ‘50s, a cut by Jules’ well-known uncle Ray Bauduc, plus sides by Aaron Neville, Allen Toussaint, Bobby Charles, Bobby Mitchell, Danny White, Dave Bartholomew, Eddie Bo, Frankie Ford, Jerry Byrne, Irma Thomas, Johnny Adams, Joe Jones, Larry Williams, Prince LaLa, Lloyd Price, Rollee McGill, Roy Brown, and Smokey Johnson.
