Episode 895 is coming from Radio Free Amsterdam headquarters in the Cass Corridor of Detroit with the third of three programs with music contributed by my old friend Jules Bauduc of Louiaiana, known in musical circles as The Maestro, who sent me 4 CDs worth of rare music on 45 rpm discs, including most of this week’s program of tunes by the Duke Elllington Orchestra, Ray Bauduc, Pete Fountain, The Viscounts, The Champs, Bill Doggett, Link Wray, Eddie Harris, Cozy Cole, Dave “Baby” Cortez, Preston Epps, Santo & Johnny, Al Hirt, and the Average White Band, preceded by an opening set by Michel van Dijk & the LONE Project, Abbie Hoffman on Phil Ochs, Robin Eichele reading from his recent Journals, John Sinclair & Planet D Nonet from our new album Monk’s Dream, and Charlie Parker with our closing theme.
