Episode 902 is coming from the Funky Butt Club on Rampart Street in New Orleans, the site of a memorial concert for the great writer and musical expert named Robert Palmer, who passed away from liver failure while a resident of Barracks Street in the Crescent City. Palmer was a close friend and mentor to me and well loved by everyone on the scene, so we came together at the Funky Butt to honor Bob’s memory with performances by an unidentified artist, Manny Lander, Charlie Miller & Jonathan Frelich, Mark Bingham, Tav Falco, JoBeth Britton with James Grauerholz & Daniel, and The Grand Finale with Michael Ray, with titles approximated and an unrelated added number by John Sinclair & His Blues Scholars with Dr. Dorothy Moore recorded at the Detroit Jazz Festival in 2006.
