Our fourth episode investigating the music recorded by John Coltrane for Atlantic Records during 1959-61 completes the album called Coltrane Jazz, recorded November 29 & December 2, 1959 with Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers & Jimmy Cobb, and then moves to the Atlantic album called The Avant Garde with Coltrane on tenor & soprano saxophones, Don Cherry on pocket trumpet, Charlie Haden or Percy Heath on bass, and Edward Blackwell on drums, recorded June 28 & July 8, 1960 and issued on LP several years later, but now found in its entirety in the Atlantic box set called The Heavyweight Champion.
