Episode 993 is a valentine for the late, great tenor saxophonist Lester Young featuring an hour of his early recordings from the 1930s and ’40s, mostly with the Count Basie Orchestra and two of its subsidiaries, Jones-Smith Inc. and the Kansas City Six, all taken from the splendid four-disc set called The Lester Young Story issued by Proper Records.
