George Klein presents an hour devoted to a special celebration of historic developments that had just occurred in August 1991 opening up the Soviet Union to greater freedom. The focus is two concerts by American musicians: the Benny Goodman Orchestra in Moscow in 1962, and the Charles Lloyd Quartet at the Tallinn Jazz Festival, Estonia, in 1967.
