THE GROOVE YARD 198 – TAKE THE COLTRANE

George Klein presents the second hour of his multi-part feature on Duke Ellington in the 1950s & ‘60s, focusing on the Ellington orchestra in 1962 playing the Cote d’Azur jazz festival with a guest appearance by Ella Fitzgerald, and then we hear Duke in small-group settings on Impulse Records with Coleman Hawkins and John Coltrane from the fall of 1962.
