
George Klein presents the final hour of a multi-part series on pianist, composer & bandleader Horace Silver as leader of his quintet 1965-69 on Blue Note Records, from the albums Cape Verdean Blues, The Jody Grind, Serenade to a Soul Sister, and You Gotta Take a Little Love. All the tunes heard were composed by Silver. In addition to Silver at the piano, musicians on these sessions include Woody Shaw, Charles Tolliver, or Randy Brecker on trumpet; joe Henderson, Tyrone Washington, James Spaulding, Stanley Turrentine, and Bennie Maupin on saxophone & flute; Bob Cranshaw, Larry Ridley, or John Williams on bass; and Roger Humphries, Mickey Roker, or Billy Cobhan on drums.
