George Klein presents an hour of music by the Jazz Crusaders. Since their days in a Houston junior high school, these friends made soulful music together, then they moved to Los Angeles: Wilton Felder, tenor sax; Wayne Henderson, trombone; Joe Sample, piano; and Nesbert “Stix” Hooper, drums, along with different guest bassists. The Jazz Crusaders made numerous LPs on Pacific Jazz in the 1960’s, including the albums presented in this hour: Tough Talk (1963), The Thing (1965), Chile con Soul with Hubert Laws on flute (1965), and Talk That Talk, with an unidentified big band (1966).
